Qualified Person (Geotechnical) for the Piling (Bored Piles and DW) and ERSS works for the project.

Large diameter bored piles (Total 434) from 1200mm to 2500mm diameter down to about 70m below ground level. Ground condition comprises Reclaim Fill overlaying soft Marine Clays and Old Alluvium. All piling works and as-built piling submitted.

Load bearing DW as ERSS scheme. Carried out VE by adopting ‘trouser leg’ configuration for a section of load bearing DW.

Challenging staged top-down construction to limit wall movements and impact to adjacent C903 MRT station and tunnels.

The loading on the bored piles are very large (allowable stress upto 10 MPa) such that specially fabricated reaction girders are required to carry out the ultimate load tests safely. In addition, as the QP Geo I had specified significant numbers of integrity testing such as sonic logging, coring and PIT to be carried out (at least 30% for the main tower piles) to verify the integrity of the bored piles due to the large columns loads directly onto isolated pile groups.
